Magnetic-Based Polydimethylsiloxane Microspheres for Magnetic Field Measurement

Magnetic-based polydimethylsiloxane microspheres (MPMs) are fabricated and its applications for measurement of magnetic field investigated. The MPMs prepared by first incorporating the uniformly sized Mn3O4 nanocrystals into (PDMS) matrix, then using a self-assembling method to obtain chain on fiber taper. regarded as optical resonators, demonstrating whispering gallery modes (WGM) with high Q factor in 1310 nm band. Experimental results show that resonance wavelengths WGM spectra depend strength since change applied filed cause mechanical deformation MPMs, leading shift resonant wavelength resonator. Using sensors, performances terms sensitivities ranges have been optimized. Thus, sensitivity 101.9 pm/mT range up 8 mT achieved MPM (~270 μm diameter). Besides, performance after two-week storage is analyzed, showing excellent long-term stability.
